Genesis 10-11
This exploration of Genesis 10 and 11 reveals God's heart for humanity. Genealogies may seem minor, yet they map out God's redemptive plan. Genesis 10's Table of Nations shows God's care for all tribes, tongues, and nations, even before Israel, underscoring that God loved the world (John 3:16). The Babel story highlights humanity's tendency to rely on self-made security rather than God's plan—building towers as insurance against floods. We often do the same, building self-reliant 'towers' instead of trusting God. Yet even in judgment, God's grace shines through—scattering humanity to fulfill His command to fill the earth. Sometimes God guides us the hard way, as with Jonah in Nineveh. The genealogy ending with Abraham shows God's faithfulness in focusing on one man through whom all nations are blessed, often using unlikely people to fulfill His purposes.
